How to make your bouquet last a week (or more)
Five florist tricks to keep roses, tulips and sunflowers fresh.
Fresh flowers are a gift that keeps giving — if you treat them right. Here's what our florists do every day at Dangwa.
1. Trim stems at an angle
Cut 2–3 cm off each stem at a 45° angle with sharp scissors. The angled cut gives stems more surface to drink.
2. Clean vase, cool water
Wash the vase with soap and fill it two-thirds with room-temperature water. Add the flower food sachet that comes with every Zeenshane order.
3. Change the water every two days
Bacteria is the enemy. Fresh water and a quick re-trim every two days can double vase life.
4. Keep away from heat and fruit
Direct sun, aircon vents and ripening fruit (which releases ethylene gas) all speed up wilting.
5. Remove fading blooms
Pull out any wilted stems so they don't affect the rest of the bouquet.
